EU's Horizon Europe funding calls announced for cybersecurity sector

Information security now!

The European Commission's Horizon Europe funding programme has launched new calls for research, development and innovation in the cybersecurity sector.

The themes of the calls cover the development of the cybersecurity sector from different perspectives, ranging from secure systems development to standardisation and data analytics to support infrastructure resilience.

The aim of the calls is to build an international, multidisciplinary consortium of experts from different fields, including organisations with a common project idea and with complementary and supporting expertise. The typical value per project of calls for proposals is around 4-6 MEUR/project.

The opening and closing dates of calls vary, so it is important to check these dates carefully. The majority of new calls will open on 27th of June 2024 and close on 20th of November 2024.

Detailed application descriptions and further information can be found here (External link)

The themes of the new calls include:

  • Post-quantum cryptography transition
  • Approaches and tools for security in software and hardware development and assessment
  • Tracing of cryptocurrencies transactions related to criminal purposes
  • Advanced real-time data analysis used for infrastructure resilience
  • Interoperability for border and maritime surveillance and situational awareness
  • Mitigating new threats and adapting investigation strategies in the era of Internet of Things

The European Commission will organise a separate information event to present the calls during spring/summer 2024. This event will be announced separately once the information is confirmed.
