How to request the deletion of your personal data from taxi service Yango

Have you used the taxi service Yango and would like Yango to delete all of your personal data from their servers? Did you know that you can directly request Yango to delete your personal data on the basis of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
In August 2023, the Data Protection Ombudsman issued an urgent interim order to Yandex LLC and Ridetech International B.V. to suspend the transfer of personal data collected by the Yango taxi service to Russia. The implementation of the order was postponed at the end of August for the assessment of further clarifications and in September, the Data Protection Ombudsman revoked the previous temporary prohibition to transfer personal data to Russia. The Data Protection Authorities will continue to cooperate on the supervision of the Yango taxi service's data transfers.
How to request Yango to delete your personal data in practice
If you would like Yango to delete your personal data, you can request Yango to delete the collected data on the basis of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The deletion request must be presented directly to Yango, meaning that other parties, such as Traficom’s National Cyber Security Centre Finland, cannot do it for you.
Instructions for submitting a deletion request
These instructions provided by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom’s National Cyber Security Centre Finland describe one way of presenting a personal data deletion request to Yandex LLC and Ridetech International B.V., the provider of Yango.
You can submit your deletion request via email to ams-office@yandex-team.com.

Email subject line: Requesting deletion of my personal data according to GDPR Article 17
If you use an email address to log in to Yango, enter the following as the body of the email:
I am writing to request the deletion of all my personal information as well as my travel history from all Yango's data storages under GDPR Article 17. My Yango user account is authenticated with email address [add your email address here if you have used it for logging to Yango].
