The mission of the National Coordination Centre

The European Cybersecurity Industrial, Technology and Research Competence Centre’s National Coordination Centre Finland (NCC-FI) officially commenced operation at the start of 2023.

The National Coordination Centre for Cyber Security Research, Development and Innovation creates the preconditions for Finnish cyber security operators, such as companies, universities and research institutes, to participate in international research and development work and obtain funding from the EU’s funding programmes.

The National Coordination Centre builds and develops the cyber security competence community at both the EU and national level. The community brings together key public and private sector operators with the aim of developing cooperation for the purpose of facilitating and improving cyber security research, development and innovation.

The National Coordination Centre helps Finnish operators participate in cross-border EU projects and obtain EU funding according to national priorities. One of the Coordination Centre’s key tasks is to grant financial support to Finnish operators for measures aiming to improve cyber security. The first national application round for financial support was launched on 16 June 2023 and will end on 16 August 2023 at 16:15.

The National Coordination Centre is a member of the EU-wide Network of National Coordination Centres maintained by the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre. The purpose of the Network is to improve national cyber security capacities, support cyber security research and accelerate technological development in the EU. The Network of National Coordination Centres increases cooperation between the Member States with the aim of reinforcing e.g. the EU’s cyber security capacities and the competitiveness of the industry.

The National Coordination Centre is financed by the EU and the State of Finland.
