As being part of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) and its Network of Coordination Centres National Cyber Security Centre Finland at the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom may award financial support to projects improving cybersecurity nationally.

A new call round is open till the 16th of October 2025 4:15 PM

The call is open for micro, small and medium-sized natural and legal persons that fall under the National Cybersecurity Act of Finland (kyberturvallisuuslaki (24/2025) and that have registered themselves to the list of entities maintained by the supervisory authorities.

The goal of the call is to implement the requirements set out in the Cybersecurity Act and to raise the level of cybersecurity within the applicant organisations.

The call is open from the 15th of August till the 16th of October 4:15 PM.

Three call rounds at minimum will be held in 2025–2029

The National Coordination Centre was granted a new project under the Digital Europe Programme, which from the The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will distribute financial support to third parties in 2025–2029. Minimum of three call rounds will be held with total budget of 3,7 million euros. Financial support will be granted for implementing new cybersecurity legislation, as well as for the implementation and dissemination of modern cybersecurity solutions. The dates and other details of the call rounds for financial support are announced on the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal, haeavustuksia.fi/en website and on this website in Finnish and in Swedish.

Two call rounds for financial support were held in 2023–2024

In 2023–2024, financial support was granted to Finnish small and medium-sized enterprises with total of 2 million euros. The financial support was primarily meant for strengthening SMEs' own capabilities and Finland's national capacity and infrastructure to protect against cyber-attacks.

4Front conducted an Impact evaluation of the financial support provided in 2023–2024 

In terms of direct impacts to beneficiaries, the evaluation found that the financial support has well fulfilled its purpose and its direct impact to beneficiaries can be considered high. Almost all the projects (95 %) stated that they have successfully implemented their technology upgrading and reached the project goals. The companies were also reporting increased resilience against cyber-attacks. In terms of indirect impacts, the evaluation was looking at effects on cyber security market and overall national cyber security capacity.
